Dr. Peter Suedfeld from the University of British Columbia has conducted psychological studies at various Antarctic and Arctic stations for almost a decade, much of it in co-operation with U.S. and Argentinean psychologists. Since 1990, he has directed the Polar Psychology Program (PPP), a multinational, bipolar study to obtain basic knowledge of polar psychology and develop improved methods for selecting Antarctic and Arctic personnel. Scientists from Argentina, France, Italy, Japan and the U.S. have participated in the program, and data are still being collected.

Outside Magazine did a story on the psychological effects of a winter season at South Pole.

This is an interesting article about isolation and confinement in Antarctica.

The American Psychology Association has an article on psychologist Toni Anker who studies people who "winter" in Antarctica.
